Dear Friends and Family,
It’s been nine weeks since we first arrived on March 6. We were thankful to be able to return to the U.S. for two weeks for John’s father’s funeral on March 25, but now we have returned and are settling into our new home. Thank you to all of you for your prayers and support during our time of grief; we are grateful that John’s dad Tony was a dedicated believer, and we look forward to being with him again in heaven.
For the past two weeks John has been ministering in Coastlands Community Church, our home church here in South Africa. God has been doing some amazing things in this church and we can see the hand of God preparing this congregation to be a strong missions church that impacts the surrounding nations and beyond. We are recognizing that one of the reasons that God brought us here at this time is to play a key role in this activity in partnership with our sending churches in America. We are especially excited about the possibility of being part of a new French-speaking congregation of people from the Congo and also about traveling northward into the heart of Africa to strengthen the churches there. On our blog, you can read the inspiring testimony of one of the leaders of the French-speaking members of our church.
Our ministry objectives for the new two months are to: 1) participate in a parenting seminar within our home church here in Cape Town, 2) travel to churches in Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and other regions of South Africa to minister to churches and leaders, and 3) fly to Ethiopia and Kenya for ministry. The trip to the African countries north of here will give us the opportunity to scout out the land for future ministry in those regions. We are currently investigating the possibility of continuing with the Maniac4Missions motorcycle journeys into those nations for the purpose of assisting in new church plants and training in more remote areas. There is a possibility that this endeavor would be done in partnership with Foursquare Missions International. Please pray with us about all of these opportunities, as scheduling and travel in many of these areas can be challenging.
Thank all of you again for your faithful support. Without you we could not have the opportunity that we now have of influencing the nations for Christ during these last days. We believe that we need to be “working while it is day, for the night comes when no one can work.” God is giving many opportunities for ministry for those who will take advantage of the open doors. Pray for us that we may be faithful to that which He has called us to do. And we will keep you posted on our journeys…
